Puncture-proof foam inserts that replace the inner tube entirely, available in five versions to match different riding styles, terrain types, and durability needs. Designed and made in Europe, Mitas mousses are a strong alternative to the long-established Michelin Bib Mousse, often at a sharper price and with versions that target specific niches Michelin does not. As with any mousse setup, installation requires Mousse Lube to reduce internal friction and slow heat-related wear, and lifespan is finite (typically four to eight months of regular hard use depending on the version and conditions). Heavier than a tube setup, so an unsprung weight trade-off, but the right choice for any rider where a flat tyre would end the day.
Versions available:
- Standard: General-purpose off-road mousse. Compression mimics a tube at around 13 psi (0.9 bar). The right choice for enduro, hard trail, and most off-road racing where you want proven mousse performance at a fair price.
- Extreme: Lower compression rating for hard enduro and extreme terrain. Mimics a tube at around 6 to 8 psi, giving maximum tyre deformation and traction over rocks, roots, and technical climbs. The choice for serious hard enduro racers and extreme trail riders.
- Soft: Softer foam construction with a gentler feel, suited to riders who want a more compliant ride and lower equivalent pressures. Good for technical low-speed work where comfort and grip matter more than top-end durability.
- Rally: Built for rally raid and high-speed desert use. Stronger construction handles the heat and stress of long-distance fast riding, where a softer mousse would break down quickly. The pick for Dakar-style events and serious desert touring.
- Long Life: Engineered for maximum lifespan. Trades some of the ultimate compression and feel for significantly longer service life, making it the cost-effective option for riders who use a mousse for trail riding and want the puncture-proof benefit without replacing it every season.
